1.0 Born on 15th July,1959 in Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh, P.Chenna Reddy had his Secondary School Education from Sri Potti Sreeramulu Municipal High School , Anantapur in 1974. Did B.A.Degree with History & Political Science from Sri Venkateswara University , Tirupati in 1981 and took M.A. Degree in History from Sri Krishnadevaraya University , Anantapur in 1984. He was awarded the Degrees of M.Phil and Ph.D. in History from Sri Venkateswara University in 1986 and 1988 respectively. Did M.T.M. (Master of Tourism Management) course in 2007 from Madurai Kamaraj University .
1.1 Apart from the regular Academic courses, Dr.P.Chenna Reddy also did Professional courses viz., P.G.Diploma in Epigraphy from Sri Venkateswara Oriental Research Institute, Tirupati in 1998; Diploma in Computer Applications from Wisdom Academy in1998 and P.G.Diploma in Travel and Tourism Management from Andhra University in 2003.
2.0 Joined as Project Assistant in Department of History & Culture, School of History , Culture and Archaeology Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University , on 5-10-1987 and continued in the same position until he joined as Assistant Professor, Department of Epigraphy and Written Records in the same University at Srisailam Campus on 10-4-1989 and served until 26-7-1998 . On 27-7-1998 he was promoted as Associate Professor in the same Department and same University. On selection, he joined as Professor, Department of Epigraphy & Written Records, School of History , Culture & Archaeology, Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University on 27-7-2006 and continued in the same post until 9-4-2008 .
2.1 On 10-4-2008 assumed charge as Director, Department of Archaeology and Museums, Government of Andhra Pradesh, on deputation from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, for a period of 3 years.
2.2 During his tenure as faculty Member, held different positions and served the University in the capacity as Head, Department of Epigraphy and Written Records from 15-6-1998 to 14-6-2001 and between December,2004 to March, 2006., and as Member, Board of Studies, from 15-6-1998 to 14-6-2003 as Chairman, Board of Studies, School of History, Culture & Archaeology, from August 2004 to September,2007; as Senate Member of the University from August 2004 to September,2007. In addition to the above, Prof.P.Chenna Reddy held the position of Dean, School of History , Culture and Archaeology from June, 2004 to September, 2007. As Dean he also served as founder Director, for 21st Century Gurukulam at Srisailam, Andhra Pradesh in 2006. He was nominated as Co-ordinator for New campus Development, Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University , Bachupalli, Hyderabad in 2008.
3.0 Successfully completed two Research Projects viz., (1) A study on the Inscriptions of Srisailam, and (2) Festivals in Medeival Andhra: A Study in Cultural and Historical perspective funded by Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University .
3.1 Guided 19 M.Phil scholars (awarded) out of which 3 dissertations won Gold Medals.
Supervised for 12 Ph.D.scholars out of which 6 scholars were awarded the Degrees of Doctor of Philosophy out of which 1 thesis won Gold Medal and 6 works are in progress.
4.0 Interest in academic research resulted in publishing of 61 articles/papers in various National and International Journals, proceedings of the seminars and work shops. Attended 71 Conferences and seminars and conducted 16 seminars and conferences as a Director of the same.
4.1 Apart from publication of research Articles, brought out more than 20 books on Archaeology, Art, Architecture, Anthropology, History and Culture. 7 books are under printing.

6.0 Rendered services for community Development by establishing educational Institutes (Established Degree College at Srisailam in 1993) and organising relief camps. He is Editorial advisor to Vidya, a fortnightly, A.P.Year Book, IAS Margadarshi, and History and Culture Magazine. Also commissioned a Study Centre of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Open Universiy at Srisailam exclusively for Tribal students.

1. Organised a 3 day special Exhibition of coins, bronzes, treasure trove, stone sculptures representing the Early period at Andhra Pradesh State Museum, Hyderabad on the eve of World Heritage Day Celebrations on 18th April,2008 . Two books viz., Buddhist Archaeology in Andhradesa and Phanigiri: A Buddhist Site in Nalgonda District were brought out and released on this occasion.
2. Conducted Buddha Jayanthi day celebrations in Andhra Pradesh State Museum and set up a special exhibition on Buddhist relics of Andhra Pradesh (May,2008)
3. Facilitated the Unesco Team led by Dr.Minja Yang, UNESCO Director in India to visit Golconda Fort and Qutb Shahi Tombs for nominating them as World Heritage Monuments (July,2008)
4. Initiated Audio Guide System at the protected Monuements and Museums of Hyderabad to provide precise facts on various exhibits and interesting commentary to the visitors, first of its kind attempt in South India (Sept,2008)
5. Discovered an Iron Age Megalithic burial site at Inamguda, outskirts of Hyderabad dating to 500 B.C. for the first time (Sept,2008).
6. Prepared Master Plan for an Indo-Iranian Project for Conservation and Restoration of the Qutb Shahi Tombs and other Monuments including Premamati Mosque and Badshahi Ashoorkhana in Hyderabad prepared (Oct,2008)
7. Conservation and Preservation of Sir Ronald Ross Building, Begumpet a protected Monument of the Department, was taken up (Oct,2008)
8. Organised a week long special exhibition of Heritage sites Monuments at Andhra Pradesh State Museum on the eve of World Heritage Week (19th November to 25th November,2008 ) to bring awareness on preservation of heritage properties among the public.
9. Restored the 200 year old dilapidated Mons Raymond Tomb and Pavilion , protected Monuments of the Department in Hyderabad (Nov,2008)
10. Prepared a Master Management Plan for Conservation and Preservation of Heritage Monuments with special reference to Historical temples in Nellore District protected by the Department at a cost of Rs.22.00 Crores (Nov,2008)
11. Taken up Conservation and Preservation of Protected Sites and Monuments of the Department with the 12th Finance Commission Funds (Nov,2008)
12. Organised the 3 day Second Biennial Conference of Unesco –led Indian Heritage Cities Network (IHCN) jointly with UNESCO (India ). Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation(GHMC) and Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) at Taramati Baradari, Hyderbad. The Conferenc envisaged the need for a draft policy for conservation of heritage sites (Dec,2008)
13. Initiated process for protection of New Heritage Monuments in Anantapur, Nalgonda, Kadapa, East Godavari, Chittoor, Nellore and Mahaboobnagar Districts (Dec,2008)
14. Established a new Museum called Srisailam Pavilion Museum in the Directorate which houses antiquities representing the Pre, Proto, Early historic periods of Andhra Pradesh (Jan,2009)
15. Initiated Preservation and Conservation of Prehistoric rock paintings at Kethavaram in Kurnool District and opened a special gallery for displaying of the photographs of Kethavaram rock paintings at the District Archaeological Museum , Kurnool (Jan,2009)
16. Organised a Special Exhibition on Heritage Sites & Monuments of Andhra Pradesh at Andhra Pradesh State Museum , on the eve of World Heritage Day Celebrations (18-4-2009 )
17. Launched the Kakatiya Heritage Project for restoration of Kakatiya Temples, protected Monuments of the Department in Warangal District (May,2009).
18. Removed Encroachments from Paigah Tombs (18-19th Centuries) protected Monuments of the Department, Santosh Nagar, Hyderabad (May,2009)
19. Conducted Archaeological excavations at an early historic site, Kotilingala in Karimnagar District and brought to light a Buddhist Chaitya, Vihara and Habitation Area datable to 1st Century B.C. to 2nd Century A.D.
20. Action initiated to establish new Museums in 9 Districts where there are no Museums (June,2009)
21. Removed encroachments from Badshahi Ashoorkhna, a Qutb Shahi Monuments in Old City , Hyderabad (Aug,2009)
22. Taken initiative for Conservation and Preservation of Egyptian Mummy, Andhra Pradesh State Museum by inviting Dr.Tarek-el-Awady, Director of Scientific Research in Supreme Council of Antiquities (Egypt ) who visited and examined the Mummy from 12-8-2009 to 18-8-2009 and recommended to preserve the Mummy in Oxygen Case.
23. Introduced Special Security Measures by installing C.C.T.V’s and other advanced security systems in all the Galleries of Andhra Pradesh State Museum, Hyderabad (Oct,2009). Erection of Solar fencing around the Museum is also over.
24. Works initiated pertaining to Conservation and Restoration of historical temples, forts and upgradation of existing Museums in Karimnagar, Warangal, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, Anantapur, Medak, Nalgonda, Nellore, Mahaboobnagar, Prakasam, Srikakulam, Kurnool and Hyderabad Districts at a cost of 1240 Lakhs under 12th Finance Commission Grants.
25. Conceived an innovative idea, planned accordingly and designed a prestigious & most essential project namely “Photo-Documentation of 565 protected Monuments in Andhra Pradesh”, with the latest, state of the Art Giga Pan technology application in photography. It is in the active phase of implementation and expected to complete in 2010 AD.
26. Another Project namely ‘Documentation of Coins’, (numbering around three lakh coins which are in the possession of Department of Archaeology & Museums, Govt.of Andhra Pradesh) is in the active phase of implementation which is expected to complete in 2010 AD.

Prof. Peddarapu Chenna Reddy (Born in 1959) got his Post Graduate Degree in History from S. K. University, Anantapur in 1984. He was awarded M. Phil in 1986, Ph. D. in History in 1988 and P. G. Diploma in Epigraphy from S. V. University, Tirupati in 1988. He also did a P. G. Diploma Course in Travel and Tourism Management from Andhra University, Waltair in 2001. He took Master of Tourism Management Degree from Madurai Kamaraj University in 2007. His book Guilds in Medieval Andhra Desha was widely acclaimed by the academicians and students alike. Dr. Reddy has to his credit more than 25 Books and 75 research papers on various aspects of archaeology, ancient, medieval and modern History published in National and International Journals, Felicitation and Commemorative volumes. He served as Joint Secretary, Andhra Pradesh History Congress and Vice-President, South Indian History Congress during 2006-2008.He received several felicitations and awards such as Global Telugus Glory Award (1995); Sahiti Saraswati Siripi Anjaneyulu State Award (1999); Best Teacher Award by Badanu Sarojini Devi Memorial Foundation (2000). Eminent Educationist Award (2008); Puratatva Vibhushana Award (2009): Dr.Y S Rajasekhar Reddy Memorial Award (2010). His Bio-data was published in V. I. Ps of A. P. International (1995-96).
He has edited a series of felicitation volumes in honor of distinguished Indologists, Archaeologists, Anthropologists, Historians, Art Historians and Folklorists of India and Abroad. He has guided 22 M.Phil and 5 Ph.D. scholars till date.
Prof.P.Chenna Reddy, who served as Chairman, Board of Stuides and Dean and Head, Dept. of Epigraphy & Written Records, School of History, Culture & Archaeology;, Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, Andhra Pradesh is presently holding the post of Director, Dept.of Archaeology & Museums, Govt.of Andhra Pradesh since 2008.He was appointed as a Competent Authority for implementation of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains (Amendment and Validation) Act, 2010 for Andhra Pradesh.
